The Pulpit Rock rises 604 meters above the Lysefjord.Is a destination for adventurers who love to climb the steep cliffs. Climb for about 4 hours. Do not forget to take a good shoe. Through the ferry quay at Tau buses are available during the summer months. You can enjoy the beautiful nature and unique wildlife. You can find swimming and picnic areas.Preikestolen is a mountain shaped like a great pulpit towering over the Lysefjord in Rogaland, Norway. There is a crack between Pulpit Rock plateau and mountains, and it is said that in the days seven sisters marry seven brothers of the Lyse fjord area, breaking the plateau of the mountain itself and fall into the fjord, creating a huge wave that will destroy all life in the area. You have been warned. There is a well prepared track from Preikestolen Mountain Lodge to the top of the 604 meters high mountain plateau. Expect to spend four to five hours walk from the lodge to the summit and back down, and allow an hour or two to spend on the plateau.
You can enjoy food served and overnight at the Pulpit Mountain Lodge, which is an excellent starting point for several other hiking trails. There is a pay parking, an information and health facilities.It is also wonderful to experience the Pulpit from the fjord, either from a tourist boat or a ferry from Lauvvik, Oanes, Stavanger, or scale points on the Lysefjord
